North Norfolk Cliff Top
The project entailed the transformation of a sloping windswept lawn, situated within a cliff top garden, into an aesthetically appealing and easily manageable space. The client's primary requirement was focused on low maintenance and highly resilient planting capable of withstanding the harsh conditions imposed by the North Sea.
In response to the brief, I conceived a future-proofed gravel garden, offering year-round accessibility, minimal upkeep, and exceptional durability. Norfolk flint and golden sandstone were thoughtfully integrated to mirror the natural beauty of the beach below, harmonising perfectly with the existing galvanised balustrade and rooftop.
The garden showcases a selection of hardy, hard-working perennials and bulbs, carefully chosen for their prolonged flowering season and vibrant colours, attracting both pollinators and human visitors alike. These plant choices, apart from being visually stunning and beneficial to wildlife, possess robustness and resilience, ideally suited to endure the diverse weather conditions prevalent in North Norfolk.

I believe garden design is as much a creative process as it is a collaborative one. Each garden is an opportunity to combine beauty, functionality, and ecological integrity.
By weaving together thoughtful planting, spatial design, and a sensitivity to place, I aim to create outdoor spaces that are restorative, biodiverse, and deeply personal.
